Oily skin often refers to a skin type that is shiny in appearance, greasy to touch and heavy textured – especially around the T- Zone. Those with oily skin often experience breakouts including blackheads, and have visible pores.
Oily skin is caused by overactive sebaceous glands that produce a substantial amount of sebum.
As oily skin produces an excessive amount of sebum, the skin is constantly lubricated leaving it looking plump and hydrated and therefore delaying the ageing process.
Although it is mostly seen in teenagers, many have to endure oily skin throughout their lifetime. There are several factors as to why one may experience oily skin. These include poor diet, the environment/weather, medications, hormones, excessive stress and even frequent time in the sun.
