One expert thinks her naturally beautiful looks are sparking more people to opt for subtle enhancements
The ‘Meghan Markle effect’ was coined because of her power to sell out just about anything, and it proves that the world just wants to be a little more Meghan. It also seems this influence might even reach as far as affecting the types of cosmetic treatments people are getting.
Dr Nick Milojevic from London’s Milo Clinic claims he’s seen a rise in patients looking to achieve more subtle enhancements to their complexions. This means a step away from ‘duck lips’ and towards the naturally beautiful lip shape that Meghan has been blessed with.
“Last year I saw a good few patients come in armed with an image of Kylie Jenner , and it’s not a fantastic representation of what lip treatments can achieve.
“But Meghan’s are natural yet full. 2018 will definitely see a more natural lip that aligns with the other features of the face and not over dominate,” he says.
With Meghan set to become the biggest influencer of 2018, and the most Googled person in the UK last year, it’s no wonder we’re straying from the social media trends of yesteryear, pioneered by the likes of Kylie Jenner.
Instead, Dr Milojevic sees this year being more about “skin rejuvenation and achieving the happy and healthy glow” that Meghan naturally has.
As well as easing up on lip fillers, he predicts that people will want less of an overall ‘frozen’ look to their skin, so will ease back on the amount of Botox they have injected.
“We can now use 50% less product in certain areas of the face to achieve the look of younger and more radiant skin,” says Dr Milojevic.
He does this using a treatment named baby Botox, which involves injecting tiny doses of the liquid to the usual areas of the face – for a more natural, less frozen, result.
